Bison Glow – Wichita Mountains, OK
“You have to get up pretty early in the morning to get up pretty early in the morning” I am not sure who said this little pearl of wisdom, but no truer words have been spoken. Such is the case for this photo. Not only was it early, but it was cold as well. When the sun finally came up it looked like the prairie was set on fire with golden light and this American bison was just about to light up. The top of its head had just started to glow when I swear the temperature rose fifteen degrees in as many minutes bringing it up to a balmy thirty degrees. Even though bison are the largest terrestrial animal in North America and very dangerous, this guy seems to me to have a bit of a Snuffleupagus quality to him. What do you think?

A wonderful picture. Such stillness and quiet – a haiku moment.
It seems as though he was posing for you. There is much more in this picture than just an exposer. It feels as though I’m there when I look at it. Thank you.

It has all that fur…he doesn’t feel that outside are 15 degrees. However, it is worth the effort to wake up and shot this image.
