Annapolis Harbor (Ego Alley) – Annapolis, MD

I was lucky enough to be born in one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the country - Annapolis, Maryland.  For the history buff, it was settled in the mid-1600’s and, for a brief period of time, was the capital of the United States of America (1783).  If you are a naturalist it is located on the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the US.  It is known as the “Sailing Capital of the World” and every summer hosts 2 huge boat shows.  The particular area above is known as “Ego Alley” where multi-million dollar yachts park during the non-winter months.  The photograph was taken from a small pier during sunrise in historic downtown Annapolis.  I was really pleased with the water filling most of the foreground because it gives the perspective of a captain bringing his boat into harbor for a few well needed cocktails.  I will have more historic Annapolis shots from my Christmas trip in the next few weeks so stay tuned.

  12. One of the best shots I seen downtown. Its actually nice to see this shot without a dozen boats in the way – the architecture is perfect at the time of day you took this shot. Congrad!

  25. Gorgeous,
I love the golden hues of the morning as much as the perspective. Since my old man was career Navy, Annapolis for me is always associated with the US Naval academy. Thanks for the lovely share.

  30. It’s your proud baby of early bird :-)
To clop off right side yacht and the sky in proportion, to make it more tidy
or leave as it is to enhance perspective and the smell of life might be an
arguable point. ( I’m sure, you did some variation. :-) )

  31. How picturesque!
