Annapolis Harbor (Ego Alley) – Annapolis, MD
I was lucky enough to be born in one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the country – Annapolis, Maryland. For the history buff, it was settled in the mid-1600’s and, for a brief period of time, was the capital of the United States of America (1783). If you are a naturalist it is located on the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the US. It is known as the “Sailing Capital of the World” and every summer hosts 2 huge boat shows. The particular area above is known as “Ego Alley” where multi-million dollar yachts park during the non-winter months. The photograph was taken from a small pier during sunrise in historic downtown Annapolis. I was really pleased with the water filling most of the foreground because it gives the perspective of a captain bringing his boat into harbor for a few well needed cocktails. I will have more historic Annapolis shots from my Christmas trip in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
