Butterfly on Pink flower

Butterfly on Flowers (Perhaps) - Tanzania – Lee Peiling

As we have seen countless times before, beauty can be waiting in your backyard. That is as far as Lee went to get this beautiful shot of a butterfly flying around pink flowers. The softness of the image enhances the delicate wings and pedals.  Please read her story below to find out how she was able to capture this image. This photo was taken in my garden in Tanzania. I had noticed there’s a lot of butterflies in my garden because of the dry season. I had to wake up early in the morning around 7am for this shot planned it in my mind the day before. A couple of them started to approach when the strong sun had lit up the whole garden. They seem to love these flowers in my garden and keep coming back and forth for the pink colors. I kept shooting around 2 hours and finally, I knew I had gotten something special. I love the “freeze in the air” butterfly with some dusting effects of the water droplets when the gardener watered the plants earlier in the day. The dusting effect is the plus point to make this shot look so beautiful.  I have decided to enhance it with some texture in the final editing stage.

Camera: Canon EOS 50D

Lens: Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Lens

Shutter Speed: 1/1600 sec
