“Evening’s Entrance”– San Clemente, CA – Charlie Stinchcomb (Me)
Transition Day! Today is the day that we are transferring (upgrading) from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. Since PhotoBotos might be down for a couple hours, we didn’t want to “short change” a Featured Photographer and we are showcasing one of Charlie’s images instead. As we noted yesterday, everything will remain the same except that our daily images will no longer show up in your WordPress “Home Dashboard”. There are a lot of Pros and Cons when it comes to making the decision to transfer to WordPress.org, but, we felt that it was in the best interests of everyone to do so. Let us know if you would like us to detail our reasoning behind the decision and we will put together a review for our community.
Take it away Charlie!!
There are great rewards in having a camera handy almost everywhere you go. You don’t have to wait until you are on vacation before you start looking for that prize image to hang over the fireplace. Some of my best shots are taken during spontaneous brief periods of time where I slip away from a daily activity to capture a shot. I captured this image between the time my family and in-laws finished dinner and paid the check. I slipped out (almost unnoticed) for about ten minutes from the restaurant while everyone else was finishing their glass of wine. I adjusted my camera settings on the quick walk across the street to the beach. I was able to grab a couple dozen shots of which I thought this was the most appealing! So throw your camera in the car so you will not miss that next great wall hanger!
Share and Enjoy

Beautiful sunset and stunning photo!
I was excited to see a photo close to our home now. We just moved to CA in July, completely rootless. Nice to know such stunning beauty exists just outside our door … What a gift!
Really nice to hear someone being grateful for the beauty that is still around us. Good blend here. Man-made structures that can still be aesthetic within nature, artists skillfully capturing that, and us being grateful for same. Good on ya, Kate. Blessings.
stunning shot!

Love the design of this image.
An image that really takes me back to the seaside towns in England. With those long piers a lovely image that is very nostalgic for me. The Foureyed Poet.
Stunning sunset. Thank you for liking my blog – wanted to return the compliment but can’t find where to click like!
Ditto what Nicki said above about liking my blog….and wanting to return the compliment but not finding a Like click. This photo, and most of the others on your site are not just techinically good, but have very fine artistic edge to them. Well done.

Comment immediately below this one was by me. I was seeing if I could post without typing name, email, and website. Looks like I can but it shows up as Anonymous.
Is there a way for you to let us leave commentns without having to type name, email, and website each time?
Amazing picture, wow!
I was told… a true photographer never leaves home with a camera. I always have one with me.
Great image.
Amazing shot with stunning colors. I keep staring at it. Well done!
Great clarity
Brilliant water gleam; that look is captivating.
Great scenery picture! Looks so calming and beautiful. Thanks for liking my posts and I hope you do good in the move.
Love beach pictures
Awesome image!
Beautiful photo – glad I popped in. I live in the mountains now but grew up in So. Cal – lovely reminder. Good luck with the move.
I like everything about this photo. The sharpness of the pier in the foreground, the irregularity in the timbers of the pier in the distance, the sunset captured and reflected, the pillow-y softness of the circling wave on the beach. I can feel and hear it. Beautiful.
I love the sharp angles of the dock contrasted with the softness of the water. Stunning!
Wow you chose a wonderful angle from which to take such a view!!
Awesome!
Great Photo!
Yes, Toss your camera in the car, or carry a small one in your pocket, but I never leave my camera in the car – too much car break ins here…
I didn’t follow my own advice last night and the lighting was perfect, much like in this photo, with a glorious sunset after rain making the undersides of grey clouds into gold; and the sun coming through winter trees at the horizon, all limbs and no leaves. The grass was lit up in a bright evening green. It was to die for – and no camera at hand.
We were on our way to a country-side theater. It would have taken five seconds to shoot it. For that matter, the sun was going down so fast, there was only about 10 seconds of that glorious sunshine. And if you don’t have your camera, it becomes a fleeting memory.
So, back to you – this is a stunning shot. I’m glad you snuck out for your 10 minutes to photograph.
K
great shot, love the haziness on the water and blue umbrella at top!
Thank you for liking 2 of my posts and good luck in your new move. Happy Sunday to yah!
I love beach shots, the colors in this are stunning
Wow…that is beautiful
That is an AWESOME photo – just brilliant. True art; it provokes a mood and emotion, instantly. Thank you for sharing!

I particularly like the lighing and the balance of colours between the yellow/orange of the water and the orange/brown of the lichen covered timber which in itself suggests a timelessness.
I agree about keeping your camera close. I don’t have a wizz-bang SLR but I do regularly capture nature at its best simply because my camera is small enough to hang on my belt.
Lovely!
Breathtaking yet again!
Beautiful capture and kudos for the upgrade!
Very Good
Love the use of the light!
Another superlative shot. Would love to know the equipment and settings used.
Care to share the reasoning behind the switch from WP.com to WP.org? I’d love to know about that.
Beautiful sceneery, just gorgeous, thanks for sharing.
Amazing shot… I really wanted to know – all the photos that you post – are they modified a bit or is it plain photography?
Amazing photo. So glad you decided to share one of yours. I really like the composition.
I emaled you directly about your switch. I’m very interested in the switch from .com to .org. I’ve been wondering if I should transition.
I’m wondering what benefits you see and how easy or hard it was to move.
Great photo! I love the ocean shots. Bravo!
Fantastic!! The color is really wonderful!!
Great shot!!!!
Great Picture Charlie
Please let us know the pros & cons to changing over to .org.
Thanks
Colors are awesome, scene is perfect to look at, thank you for sharing this photo
Oh, this is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great shot! Though I live in OH, my wife and I have actually eaten in that restaurant at sunset. I never even thought of getting the angle that you did.
Bruce
Wow! What a phenomenal photo.
Absolutely gorgeous! I am sitting on balcony overlooking beach in Florida. It would make a beautiful photo, too! Thanks for sharing!
Beautifully captured…. Got a little lost there for a moment looking at the ocean & sunset <3
Breath taking!
i do so love the ocean – was born by it and grew up by it, and miss the seafood so very much!
quite stunning… beautifully captured
This makes us want to go to the beach right now. We love water!

Ah, I know this pier incredibly well. As a teenager I spent many summers walking up and down those crickety boards, hoping to turn a surfer’s eye.
It’s a beautiful shot and brings back a sweet memory.
Thank you.
LOVE IT!!! Have a Great Weekend:)
I love photo’s with water mirrors and this one is great
Gorgeous shot of the ocean. Hopefully we will still receive emails when you post?
Great tip and beautiful picture! I must take my camera with me more often…
Amazing, thank you for sharing. I love seeing all of these wonderful shots.
I don’t think yuo can ever get tired of a good sunset photo. Lovely stuff. thanks.
So beautiful!!!
Reblogged this on L'amore e forte come la morte.
Continued good fortune!
Beautiful! I live on the Outer Banks and have many pops for perspective pier shots. Though of course mine aren’t nearly as wonderful as yours, and taken with my iPhone, you inspire me to continue to catch beauty with eye and camera and share it. Thanks and all the best with your upgrade!
Beautiful work!
I have nominated this blog for the “Very Inspiring Bogger Award”! Congratulations! Amazing Photography.
So gorgeous. There used to be this great seafood place in Maryland where you could sit out on their deck and catch the sunset over the bay. As if it needed anymore “ahhh” factor, they played the 1812 Overture at that time everyday. The sun would just begin to skim the horizon as the cannon booms started going off. This photo reminds me of those good times.
Reblogged this on The Chronicles of Johanan Rakkav and commented:
Happy Preparation Day to all Sabbath-keepers everywhere!
Stunning… the light and the composition are breathtaking.
Thanks for sharing such lovely work……I look forward to each photo as it pops into my email. I thank you for liking one of my post…..in doing so you’ve given me the lovely gift of photograph that I share with my viewers on my yoga blog from time to time! Keep them coming!
Today was a good day for me to come across your blog – I just moved away from the OC to the Philippines and have been missing home lately. This is a beautiful shot of this famous OC spot. Love it!
Great pic Charlie…. Good luck guys with the move…
Absolutely breathtaking!
The shutter speed on this excellent image is perfect! Just slow enough to give the water a bit if that silky smooth look, while still being fast enough to give the wave some definition and not have the water simply look like smoke.
Awesomely done Charlie; love it!
What a mood, what a feel!
Thanks for sharing
This is becoming a famous location where all photographers flock to. However, this is one of the best renditions of this shot! Well done.
Lovely picture. That little wave adds so much to the shot.
As far as the switch to .org, I would love to hear the reasons.
The surface of the water by the beach is just amazing, it looks such an unusual texture for water!
Nice to see one of your photos for a change Charlie. Beautiful light, very Maxfield Parrish.
Let’s see more of you, okay?
I fear I could only get photos like that if I threw you as well as your camera in the back of the car each time I went out! Before I joined this blog ~(yesterday!!!) I thought my own pics were ok. Now a panoply of majestic scenes has been opened up to me
Yeah, throw your camera in the car if you are going to dinner down at the water in San Clemente, for sure!
To dream away…
Hi,
Lovely photo. I can just make out the table and chairs on the top, what a spectacular view you would have out there.
Will you still appear in the WordPress app for iPhone? That’s where I do most of the reading of the blogs I follow
Will I continue to receive e-mails when you post?
Amazing
Love the oceans movement in this shot and also the colors of the sky re-flexing in the ocean. This photo give calmness – beautiful!
