Golden Forest – Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria – Ivan Miladinov
We have our seasons all mixed up here at PhotoBotos.com, but that is by design. If you want summer we know you can just walk outside and find it. However if you would like a bit of time well spent in the autumn forest, then you need to come see us. Ivan’s image of the golden forest in the Bulgarian woods is pretty awesome. I have never been to the Rhodope Mountains or even Bulgaria, but it reminds me a bit of the Northeastern United States in the fall.
I love the angle and how the focal point leads your eye straight through the trees and into the sky. Where ever you are, hopefully this image inspires you to take images from angles that are a bit different. So next time you are in the woods lay down, look up, and snap away. Who knows? You might have the next featured image here at Photobotos.com. Please read Ivan’s story below and then visit one or all of his websites for some great images of Europe.

I took this pic last autumn during a photo trip to the Rhodope Mountains in my country – Bulgaria. It was hard to find such pleasant colors this year, just because we had a bad autumn. An early snowfall was the reason for killing all the leaves before their transformation from green to the nice reds and yellows. Lucky me, i was able to travel a lot these days, so i found this small forest formation untouched from the snow.
I made the picture with Sigma 12-24 lens mounted on my Canon 1Ds. I love ultra-wide lenses and the freaky perspective they can do. For this composition I laid down on the ground and point the camera up to the forest roof. Double luck for the day – the sun was blocked by the clouds so it was easy to get the correct exposure. I loved the image at the first look in the camera screen.
Camera: Canon EOS 1Ds
Lens: Sigma 12-24 EX I, 12mm,
One single RAW file converted in CR and processed in Adobe Photoshop with some levels adjustments.
