Lady in Red – Iver, Buckinghamshire, UK – Jacky Parker
“Beauty is where you find it” – Madonna
This little red ladybug on a flower was found right outside Jacky’s front door in the United Kingdom. What a beautiful example of Macro photography. Not only is the red on red nice, but the black in the background really makes the black “pop” in the shell. From my experience if you are going to attempt Macro photography then purchase a 100mm rather than a 50mm macro lens. It allows you to get closer to you subject without spooking it. To see more of Jacky’s amazing garden macro then please check out her website and portfolio below for more inspiration.

The image was taken in my front garden in Iver, Buckinghamshire UK. I had set out to photograph a red oriental poppy growing in my front garden, I noticed the 7-spot Ladybird resting on by edge of the vibrant red petals and thought it would make an unusual image, red on red! with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 105 micro VR set on Manual, aperture F/5.6, shutter 1/500 and ISO200 I proceeded to take a few shots, within seconds the little bug was off charging around the flower like a thing possessed!! All I could do was charge around after it trying to focus and take as many images as possible, to my delight after quite a few frames I found this image!

The lady beetle looks almost like a flat cutout. I like it!
Nice macro photo. Thank you for the advise which is the best lens to use for macro photography. Just what my friend and I need to know most. Thank you again.
there is a delicacy to the lady bug in sharp focus against the bright red petal in soft focus, really nice pic

I only have a small pocket camera, so was pleased with the results!
Simply amazing!!
Great title, great photo!
Love this lady bird!
That’s quite a buggie photo. Nice color and composition. We’ve had to endure invasions of millions of these critters as pests in Nebraska, so I don’t really appreciate them in the way that Jacky Parker does.
Wow – as a lovers of red – this made my day. Thanks.
This is just a beautiful photo. Exquisite!
LOL…really not what I was expecting when I read the title. This is an incredible shot.
I love the title – Lady in Red
Now about that quote, is that underwear Madonna or the Virgin Mary? Sounds more like Mary to me.
Ladybugs are considered lucky when you find one. My mother told me that. She also was the one who said pizza wasn’t fattening so…
Sorry Susannah. It is underwear Madonna. Virgin Mary wasn’t on the radio that often when I was a kid.
Lovely
The vivid color pulls you right in – stunning!
Great title for this wonderful photo!
…and to our delight also! Great photography.
Beautiful
