Na Pali Coast Sunset - Ke’e Beach, Kauai – Vassili Broutski

This picture was taken at Ke’e Beach. It is the most northern beach on the island of Kauai, in Hawaii. Only those that drive to the end of the road enjoy the waves of this Northern shore and a view of the Na Pali Coast. 

Tourists and locals enjoy a calm warm relaxing atmosphere here. The weather was perfect with a bit of clouds above still water. It was unusually quiet, with waves striking the reef in the distance, creating a mist in the air,that blanketed the mountain. Yet the sharp edges of the mountain, were still visible. Notice the mountain and cloud’s refection in the calm shallow water. The reef created a lace pattern that added mystic .The descent of the sun filled the space with a golden light.

A beautiful location is essential. To create this magical moment I avoided getting people in the frame. I used the tele-lens to achieve this. Timing is also important, I watched the light at this place for several days to discover the best time to shot. Lastly, don’t be afraid to venture out without a tripod.
