The Natural Cathedral
“La Cathédrale Naturelle”– Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Lars van der Goor – Featured Photographer
I love photos that you can walk into. This one by Lars is a great example. The light on the trees is quite amazing. Many images in the forest feel dark and gloomy while this feels just the opposite. Inspiring perhaps? The flowers soften the path while the natural cross at the end of the road seems like a perfect destination. Lars isn’t just a one image wonder in fact his style captures the woods (and many other subjects) better than any photographer I have ever seen. Check out his gallery HERE to prove me right! Sometimes you take your best images just around the corner. I happen to know this path very well and in my early years of photography I cycled that path in every season. In May/June you can find these flowers “cow parsley” along the side of the road. It was in the early evening with a warm soft sunshiny glow on the trees. I took this one with my Panasonic DMC FZ50 and took it from a very low angle. What you see at the end of the road looks like a cross which in fact is a part of a small sluice.
