“Queen of the Dams” – Taketa-shi, Oita, Japan – Shoichi Mikami – Featured Photographer

It is raining here in California, so I thought this would be the perfect post for today. The young woman appears to be moments from being swallowed by a downpour of biblical proportions.  The best part of the photo is that see seems to welcome it with open arms.  The red raincoat is very striking and the umbrella brings the photo’s whimsical appeal back into perspective.   Well done, and like many of the images we post here, a definite wall hanger.  To see more of Shoichi’s excellent work please check out his website at http://www.fotoblur.com/portfolio/oumaand and his portfolio at http://500px.com/ouma

This dam is said to be the Queen of the Japan’s most beautiful dam.

Thank you very much.

  27. this is simply wonderful. there must be an overwhelming sense of freedom there. and wonder at this world.

  28. Haha, I kept looking for the like button too!

When you post links if you just put the URL address without actually linking it in the post a lot of people won’t copy and paste it into their URL address box (sounds easy, but people like to just click!)… but their is the chain linking thing on your post, if you highlight what you want to link (it could just be a word) and put the URL in that box, people can just click on it.

Just a thought, I am a big fan of one-clicks… And this is my first time at photoboto, I will be back!

  29. Thanks for visiting our blog!

  34. Shoot… I keep looking for the “Like” button. I have some wp.org sites, and there are some plug-in’s along the same line. Although I had some problems with a few conflicting with other plug-ins.

Hope you are happy with the move. I’ve thought about moving motley news to my server, but I think I’m going to leave it where it is, on wp.com.

  47. Thanks for ‘liking’ my recent post – and thank you for this stunning photo! I have in front of me a quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain” – and this photo seems to celebrate a similar philosophy. Love it!
