Right Place, Wrong Time (unless you have a camera) – San Clemente Pier, CA

Sometimes dramatic photographs need to be created.  In this case I was on a photo-walk with Trey Ratcliff of Stuck in Customs fame (http://www.stuckincustoms.com).  The light wasn’t low enough yet for typical sunset photography so I went under the pier into the “Splash Zone”.  I took a low angle for dramatic effect and waited for the wave to crash against the pier.  When I saw my chance I fired off three frames and jumped out of the way.  When I get soaked it is a pretty normal occurrence, my camera however was spared the saltwater and I was rewarded with a pretty cool photo.  The rest of the walk consisted of Trey talking about his photo composition techniques and setting up some amazing shots.  As I post more and more photos you will probably start to notice that I take a few chances with my equipment and myself.  It keeps life exciting.
