Sea Horse – Maltese Islands – Kurt Arringo

Sea Horse – Maltese Islands – Kurt Arringo
I love Kurt’s title of sea horse. Very funny! I never get tired of seeing things out of place in an image. I think it really adds interest to the photo. First we had an underwater elephant (Click Here) Now we have an underwater race horse swimming in the ocean. Have you ever seen an image of a horse underwater? I haven’t. Kurt went through great lengths to get this image and we are glad he did. Please read his story below to find out how he did it. Then check out his unique gallery of water related images http://www.kurtarrigo.com/

This particular assignment was of racing horses getting their training in the sea. Swimming is one of the best exercises for the races horses. Apparently 20min of swimming is a very good work out for them. Since I have also been shooting underwater for the past 15yrs, I thought it would be an interesting perspective shooting from below, working win the clear clean waters off the Maltese Islands - I also took advantage of the good light.
It took a while for the horse to get used to my bubbles from my dive gear and I had to be very careful not to get knocked by one of its hoofs … I was very happy with the results and hope to do more in the near future.

So beautiful
Exquisite!
The sea makes a beautiful back drop. As gentle as it feels it also makes one realize how powerful as well.
Very mysterious looking.

WOW………..amazing and wonderful the mixture of the earth and sea!
beautiful shot! looks like something out of a dream.
Love the irony of the title and what the picture’s actually about and I love the picture. Where I ride, we hope the water’s not deep enough to have to swim because if it is, there’s flooding going on!!
The equine aspect of the Roman God, Neptune, God of the seas! Lovely shot.
