The Journey Begins

Okay all it takes is my brother telling me to quit procrastinating (which is true) to get our first post up and running. If you like it then please let us know, if you hate it please tell us it is great anyway because we are very thin skinned.  Just kidding!  Either way we promise to have a new image every day so please check back often.

Tequila Sunrise (HDR)- Riviera Maya, Mexico

This is a bit cliché, but I thought it only fitting to have the first image of our collection is a sunrise.  I recently took a trip to the Riviera Maya, Mexico with the family. What an amazing place once outside the luxury resort walls. This beach is located in front of the Azul Fives resort just outside of Playa Carmen, Mexico.  During this morning the only thing warmer than the 80 degree air temp was the 86 degree water.  So I rattled off a few exposures (-2, 0,+2) and then went for a swim. The dock is actually owned by the neighboring hotel (forgot the name) and is used by local boat traffic to pick up snorkelers on their way to the many coral reefs in the area.  At the end of the pier you can have a private dinner for about three hundred bucks.  I snorkeled this area for the morning and saw hundreds of tropical fish.

At home I processed the image in Photomatix Pro 3, Photoshop CS4, and used Noiseware Professional to smooth it all out.  I use this process quite a bit for HDR (High Dynamic Range) images so I will explain it in future post.

Share and Enjoy

  3. You liked one of my posts , and Guys it worked as I am here, newly subscribed and hopefully the like on FB went through (had some technical hitches). Interestingly I decided to put ‘running’ into the search box – just for something to search on and found your first post! As you are very thin-skinned I’ll agree it’s a superb post (only kidding – it is fantastic). So looking forward to checking out the images, I recently invested in a DSLR and have absolutely no talent whatsoever, so it’ll be great to see what actually can be achieved with a camera in experienced hands.

  4. wow.. this is a stunning picture.. which reminds me of one of my poems.
Which brings me to the question if you let other people use your pictures for private use if they would credit you as the photographer? I would love to use your picture with my poem.. It would not be in the same size because due to the heading I use, I would need to crop it over the top to keep the image of the pier .

    Kind regards,
    Francina

  9. Your skill as a photographer is amazing. You have an eye that sees more than the scene and looks deep into essence where the sun rises on an ocean and the sound of early morning awakes spirits in reflected light.

  10. Having started Dec. 9 and worked my way backward to this sunrise, I just want to say ‘thank you’ for taking me with you on a tour of some amazing places on this big blue marble.
