Photography E-Book Recommendation – Trick Photography and Special Effects
When I was given this e-book to review I thought it couldn’t possibly live up to its title Trick Photography and Special Effects: The Ultimate Guide of Tricks, Techniques, and Ideas that create Mind Twisting Images. It promises a lot and had a lot of ground to cover for the average hundred page (or less) e-book. Well I was wrong! This beast is a meaty 270+ page photographic reference for all things cool. If that wasn’t enough it comes with almost 10 hours of video tutorials that covers all the techniques in the book from painting with light to individual Photoshop tips and tricks. Here are 5 reasons why you should buy this book for you or someone you love!
(1) Feel Like a Magician!
Have you ever seen a really cool image and wondered how the heck it was created? Well this book pulls back the curtain and shows you in full detail how to impress yourself and friends with really cool mind blowing techniques.
(2) Very Easy to Follow For All Skill Levels
Evan’s style of writing is easy to read. He covers the basics in a few sentences and then elaborates on points that are a bit more technical. Also his choice of effects range from very simple (i.e. place an LED light behind a light bulb (unscrewed) to make it appear it has lit up without electricity) to the more complex (i.e. taking 3D images). Don’t get me wrong, there are some advanced techniques but the tutorials are easy to follow. Here are some sample images that Evan reveals the “secrets” to below.
(3) Choose from Dozens of Effects
If you are not interested in a certain kind of effect, just move on to the next one. I love levitation images, but they might not float your boat. Check out the many different kinds of light painting instead or the new styles you have never even heard of.
(4) Fill a Sunday Afternoon
In just a few short hours you could be a different photographer entirely. I created almost a dozen new images in the span of an afternoon. Look for them in upcoming post.
(5) Very Comprehensive
To be honest, I have always just searched the web to find interesting ideas that I had seen before and learned how to do them for free from online tutorials. However, this book not only has quick informative tutorials full of shortcuts to capturing the images you want, but it also has several ideas that I never thought of researching before. The imagination put into creating this book is a huge part of its worth.
These examples don’t even scratch the surface of what you will be able to do by the end of this book. There are several things in it for everyone and have really sparked my interest in creating new and exciting images. So check out his site HERE and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
